Founder & Managing Director
Dennis V. Marshall is the Founder and Managing Director of D.V. Marshall Company. For more than 25 years, he has worked at the intersection of strategy and finance, helping founders, family-owned businesses, boards, and management teams navigate decisions affecting ownership, growth, liquidity, and the long-term direction of privately held companies.
Across his career, Dennis has participated in more than 50 completed transactions representing more than $10 billion in aggregate transaction value. His experience—including work completed at prior firms and companies as well as more recent advisory assignments—spans substantially different transaction sizes, structures, industries, and levels of complexity, from consequential lower-middle-market decisions for individual owners to larger strategic and international situations.
His work includes advising owners through business sales and unsolicited offers, evaluating strategic alternatives, developing and executing acquisition strategies, assessing potential targets and partners, structuring founder-led combinations, negotiating transaction terms, and leading multidisciplinary teams through financial analysis, diligence, documentation, and closing.
Dennis’s perspective has also been shaped by experience as an equity owner, investor, and operator. He has risked his own capital, assumed responsibility for day-to-day operations, helped build and expand an international business platform, guided acquisition-led growth, and participated in multiple successful exits. He founded D.V. Marshall Company to bring that combined strategic, financial, ownership, and operating perspective to business owners and personally leads a limited number of engagements.
Dennis holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Studies, summa cum laude, from DePaul University and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago, where his graduate studies focused on finance, public finance, and applied economics.
Dennis resides in the Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas area with his wife, Alli.
